Glidden Trade launches campaign to help save Britain's pubs

As pubs across the UK continue to close at an alarming rate, Glidden Trade has launched a campaign to help save these British institutions. As part of its 'Paint and a Pint' competition, Glidden Trade is offering independent pub owners and customers the chance to win a makeover for their local, helping to give it a new lease of life and drive business.

The competition, which is being run in conjunction with leading pub trade magazine, Morning Advertiser, will see two pubs selected to receive a Glidden Trade transformation worth up to £2,000. As part of the prize, the top two projects will receive expert colour and paint advice from Glidden Trade, money towards a re-opening party, plus all the redecoration will be completed by a local professional decorator - further supporting the community. Three second place prizes worth £500 are also up for grabs. Additionally, five third place winners will receive £100 in Glidden Trade vouchers to put towards their own makeover.

Used extensively by professional painters and decorators in the UK, Glidden Trade is one of the trade's best-kept secrets. As well as offering an extensive product and colour range, Glidden Trade has a proven track record among tradesmen and delivers excellent performance and great value.

The Glidden Trade competition is open for entries from independent pub landlords and their customers. To be in with a chance of winning, entrants should state why their pub is deserving of a makeover in fewer than 100 words. Responses, along with contact details and a photo of the nominated pub, should be sent to: Glidden Trade Paint and a Pint Competition, Tangerine PR, Giant's Basin, Potato Wharf, Castlefield, Manchester, M3 4NB. Alternatively, entries can be submitted by email to gliddentrade@tangerinepr.com. All entries must be received before 5pm on 31 July 2010.

Projects will be judged on originality, merit and the benefits the makeover would bring to the pub and the local area. The renovation work will be carried out in October 2010, so access to the pub at this time will be crucial.

Shortlisting will take place in early August, with successful entrants going to an independent judging panel later that month. The winning entrants will be informed in September.

A range of local press activities will also support this initiative, so winning projects will benefit from a variety of publicity opportunities within their region.
