Dulux Trade hosted a highly successful RIBA approved CPD (Continuing Personal Development) seminar at the Surface Design Show in February, highlighting the importance of colour in the built environment. The session, entitled "Colour in the Built Environment", took place at the Business Design Centre and was the best attended of the whole show!
Led by Senior Colour Designer at Dulux Trade, Tiffany Allison-Hall, the seminar provoked discussion on aspects such as: factors that can alter the perception of colour and how colour can dramatically change the dynamics of a room.
Demonstrating its commitment to supporting professionals in the industry, the Dulux Trade seminar provided extensive colour specification advice, and included guidance on the best tools available to help with creating a successful colour scheme. During the seminar, Tiffany explained how colour can enhance both the way a building looks and works, and the dramatic effect it can have on improving the aesthetic appeal of particular areas.
John Staunton, Commercial Marketing Manager at Dulux Trade explains: "As an organisation that's committed to sustainability, we want to work with our suppliers and customers to minimise the effects of painting and decorating. As a result, we've developed this industry leading programme."
"Ultimately, we wanted to highlight how the use of colour can shape people's perceptions of their environment," said Tiffany. "The way we engage with a building can be directly affected by the colour and design of a space, and so its significance as part of a design scheme shouldn't be underestimated. The seminar aimed to show organisations and individuals that when colour is used successfully, it is not only a highly effective, but also a cost efficient way to transform an environment."
A recognised colour authority, Dulux Trade is committed to helping professionals make informed decisions when it comes to colour specification and offering them the support they need to do a great job.
