Dulux Trade has been recognised for its innovative Paint Solidifier, in the Construction Products Association's 2009 edition of Construction Products Innovation and Achievement (CPIA).
Dulux Trade Paint Solidifier in the category of 'Resource Efficiency', is one of only 24 products nationwide to be chosen for this year's publication, which annually showcases the most innovative products and processes created by the construction products industry during the previous twelve months.
Commenting on the achievement, Simon Storer, Communications and External Affairs Director for the Construction Products Association said: "We are delighted that the construction products industry has once again shown an enormous desire to introduce a variety of new and exciting solutions. Despite the economic downturn in the UK, and the construction industry suffering more than most, you only need look at the products and processes showcased in CPIA to highlight the huge input the industry is making towards change.
"The 24 entries in CPIA are under four key headings; Energy and Carbon Saving; Health, Safety and Security; Improvements in Site Safety; and Resource Efficiency. By delivering these efficiencies, these new ideas bring a range of benefits to everyone including clients and end users, company employees and especially the environment we live in."
We are extremely pleased to receive this recognition, especially as it is the third year in a row that we have been chosen for CPIA publication. Last year we gained industry recognition for Ecosure, our environmentally friendly range of paints which achieves the optimum combination of sustainability and performance. In 2007 we were acknowledged for our Light & Space paint range, which is formulated to reflect up to twice as much light in a room, increasing the perception of interior space in addition to saving energy.
The Paint Solidifier is yet another example of our "Step Towards Greener" initiative. Dulux Trade Paint Solidifier eliminates the practice of sending leftover liquid paint to landfill or pouring it down a drain. When the product is mixed with the leftover paint, it is solidified in the can and then the resulting end product can be treated as normal household waste. Our Dulux Trade Paint Solidifier will bring enormous benefits to the construction industry, Firstly and critically, waste paint is disposed of in a legal and responsible way, without contaminating landfill or entering the water system. Also, the product makes the can clean enough to be recycled, preventing excess packaging waste going straight to landfill sites. It is very important that our industry recognises and showcases innovation and we are grateful that CPIA 2009 does this.
