Colour Palette notation system
The Dulux Trade Colour Palette notation is a system where the components combine to describe what the human eye seesas colour. These components are hue, light reflectance value(LRV) and chroma.
-
Hue
The hue is made up of 2 digits and 2 letters (e.g. 80RR).The two letters gives the colour family (e.g. RR). A colour from the RR family could be derived from any shade falling between magenta and red. Within each hue there are 100 divisions.
-
LRV - Light Reflectance Value (darkness to lightness)
A measure of how much light is reflected - the higher the LRV number, the lighter the colour. Each page in the fandeck has been designed so that the colours flow from pale to deep, top to bottom.
-
Chroma
The amount of colour saturation/intensity, i.e. strength of colour. Measured up to 1000 steps, a higher number indicates a more intense colour.
