We aimed to make the space warmer and more welcoming, reflecting colours familiar to the cultures of the end user, and due to the northerly aspect of the room we developed a scheme with high overall light reflectance values. In addition we aimed to convey a contemporary and youthful feel. The use of colours had to complement existing fixtures and fittings whilst creating an uplifting space to enhance learning. Disability Discrimination Act guidelines also had to be met."
