Selection and specification

For exterior or damp conditions it is preferable to select a species which is known to be durable in this type of environment. If non-durable species are chosen for such situations provision must be made for preservative impregnation.

Selection and specification of preservative pre-treatment can be made by reference to appropriate British Standards or to the Wood Protection Association specifications.
